The secret north

The north of the island is our favorite area to visit on a Santa eulalia boat trip, it has beautiful and varied landscapes, private islands, great snorkeling spots, bays with high cliffs and awesome local restaurants!

One of our favorite beaches is Cala llenya, a wide sandy beach surrounded by pine trees, very popular amongst locals. Deep crystal blue waters make it the perfect spot for a quick dip.

Tagomago is without a doubt the most popular destination for a Santa eulalia boat rental and not without a reason, it’s covered from most winds and it has a limited sandy anchoring area so there are never more than 15 boats at the same time. It was declared a national park and marine park because of its resident falcons, nesting birds and abundant marine life. The channel between the island of ibiza and Tagomago is very deep attracting also  a lot of fish life, definitely one of the best spots to see dolphins!

Pou des lleo translates as Well of the Lion, it’s a popular rocky beach area where locals come to escape the masses at sandy beaches, beautiful snorkeling surrounded by red earth and rocks, pine trees and with views of Tagomago, perfect for a local chilled experience it also has 3 restaurants with good quality food to rest a bit from our Boat tour santa eulalia day, definitely our favorite place to stop for lunch!

Tagomago Island

Tagomago is an island surrounded by cristal clear waters, declared marine national park in 2019  due to a variety of species that inhabit the island as permanent residents or as a resting area on long migrations such as falcons, seagulls, lizards and an array of fish. It only attracts small vessels as it has a limited amount of good anchorages. It’s a great place to enjoy tranquil waters and observe one of the most natural environments in the area. The island is visitable on foot where you can hike to its lighthouse, but be careful not to step on the dozens of lizards!

10.30 am: Tagomago, a beautiful island declared national park abundant with bird and sea life, with a nice sandy patch with clear water.
11.30 : Punta grossa (San vicente) : An enormous bay with big cliffs, caves, deep waters and an abandoned lighthouse!

Punta Grossa

What a place! This wide bay with very cliffs is a spectacular location to spend the day! Some of our trips spend most of their time here as it’s such a stunning location. Its high cliffs have a very particular rock formation, creating psychedelic shapes. It’s our captain Benji’s favorite place! We generally stop here on our wakeboard trips as it’s a good location to combine with our Santa eulalia rib boat trip, after visiting Tagomago. There are also a couple of caves and great snorkeling

13:30: Lunch at Port balansat, a popular fish and paella restaurant nestled in the bay of Port de Sant Miquel.
15:30: Es canaret a hidden bay in the north of the island, where access by land is complicated. Making it a very nice and relaxed bay with very calm waters perfect for a paddle board and snorkeling.

Es Canaret

Es canaret is a hidden bay in the north of the island nestled among pine trees and a very enclosed bay where access by land is complicated making it a very nice and relaxed bay with calm waters  most of the summer days, perfect for a paddle board and snorkeling.

Like most bays in the north of the island they are perfect for a Santa eulalia boat trip, generally very quiet and laid back as the masses of tourists generally visit the island of Formentera on a Day Trip to Formentera charter.

The only sounds in this bay are the sounds of water and crickets, anywhere near pine trees in summer there is this very characteristic sound. True paradise!

18:00: return to the Marina of Santa Eulalia

Benirras

Sunset  and drums! Benirras is a very popular bay for its famous Sunday drums, where a large group of people gather on Sunday at sunset, and drum the day away creating a very hippie and local atmosphere.

It’s a great spot to watch the sunset as in the summer months it settles behind the popular rock opposite the beach.

We just love the north of the island!
